DR. NANCY DURSO: Minimal stimulation IVF is an alternative to traditional IVF. Instead of all injection, we use a combination of pills and injections for ovulation stimulation. This allows for fewer injections, fewer ultrasounds for monitoring, and less cost of medication. The procedure package is priced at about half of a standard IVF cycle. However, a lower dose of medication can mean fewer eggs are retrieved. This is a good alternative for women with a previous tubal ligation, young women with husbands who have a malefactor, or for couples with no insurance coverage for IVF.
